Puncheon rum is a high-proof rum that originated in Trinidad and Tobago. The name comes from the large wooden casks, called "puncheons", in which the rum was stored. Here are some facts about puncheon rum: 

 

History: The first puncheon rum was made in 1627 by the makers of Caroni Puncheon Rum.
